Privacy Policy for SnapClipper
Last updated: December 3, 2025
1. Introduction
Welcome to SnapClipper ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our SnapClipper Chrome extension (the "Service").
Our core privacy principle is simple: your data is yours. SnapClipper is designed to be a privacy-first application. All data you save with SnapClipper is stored locally in your browser's storage and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store, or have access to any of the following personal information:
- Your name, email address, or other contact information.
- The content you clip, including text, images, or URLs.
- Your browsing history or any information about the websites you visit.
- Your IP address or location data.
- Any analytics data about your usage of the extension.
3. How Your Data is Stored
All data created and used by SnapClipper, including your clips, tags, and settings, is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (`chrome.storage.local`). This means:
- Complete Privacy: Only you can access your data. We cannot see, access, or modify it.
- Device-Specific: Your data is tied to the specific browser profile where the extension is installed. It does not automatically sync across devices unless you have enabled Chrome's built-in extension sync feature.
- Data Control: You have full control over your data. You can delete your clips at any time from the SnapClipper dashboard, and you can export your data as a backup. Uninstalling the extension will remove all associated data from your browser.
4. AI-Powered Tagging
SnapClipper uses an AI model to automatically suggest tags for your clips. This process happens entirely on your device. The content of your clips is not sent to any external server for analysis.
5. Permissions
SnapClipper requests the following permissions in your browser, and here is why we need them:
- "contextMenus": To add the "Clip with Context" option to the right-click menu.
- "storage": To save your clips and settings in your browser's local storage.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
